Great Part Time Job for a Cause. Calling Members to raise money is never easy, CWA tries to make it as smooth as possible. They have meeting before each day to work out any issues and update us on the campaigns they will be working on. A great way to learn to over come fear of rejection, because you may never be talked to like you will on the phone at CWA.
If you are able to make it, you will be rewarded with a great conversation with people that are willing to put there money on the line for the cause. Not many people stay long but if you can you will learn skills that you can take with you for the rest of your life. At CWA there is no Trying weak words you will do or you will not. Have to work very hard for bonuses. Very stressful environment for managers. Constant hiring and firing.
Politics is so so. Clean Water Action is a lovely place to work, but not to build a career. Clean Water Action is an amazing organization. The work they do is incredible and is done with enthusiasm and integrity. If I didn't have to move and if I didn't have to look for a higher paying job, I honestly would not be leaving.
Productive and Fun Environment. Great work place, my coworkers were definitely my favorite part of the job. Enjoyed seeing different parts of Michigan and talking to a wide array of people. Great place to work. Clean Water Action is a great organization. The work is really fulfilling and the people who work there are so dedicated to the work they do.
It's an environmetal policy NGO so you have to go in knowing that you won't become a billionaire but you'll be able to support yourself and do good work at the same time. They also make up for the pay with a pretty comprehensive benefits package. Waste of time very judgemental company. They have there noses high in the air wouldn't recommend. They don't seem to care about possible future employees. I got judge on the phone within seconds by the Pittsburgh PA supervisor.
Probably did me a favor why should I work for a company you won't take the time to get to know people. Wonderful work, great experience. Clean Water Action does very important work for the environment and they are all very passionate and dedicated.
The culture is supportive, comfortable, and up-beat. Great opportunities for advancement. Robbing people for a false cause. The training was awful, I never received my check for training.
You basically go around manipulating people door to door asking for money so that you and co-workers can get a percentage of donations to make up your salaries. The things you go door to door minipulating people promising that their donations will help come to fruition are absolutely false. Lobby Politicians for better health standards. Grassroots canvass to organize, educate, and fund raise with the public.
Have constituents write letters to their officials to accomplish goals. Relaxed, fun, competitive, informative, great culture. We had some wonderful employees that care deeply about the environmental implications our current administration. Clean Water was an amazing opportunity that helped me grow as a person. I worked for Clean Water this summer while on break from University. Upon starting there, I immediately felt welcomed by the staff and found my place among them. Not only were they excellent people, they were excellent friends!
On top of the fair wages and bonus opportunities , this job helped me grow as a person in ways I never could have imagined. Working for a non-profit was extremely rewarding, and being a part of the civic process made me feel accomplished and proud.
I highly recommend this job to anybody who cares about the environment, the civic process, and making a difference in the world. Fun workplace where you can do good, learn and grow. It was a great place to work. I really enjoyed the culture there. Everyone was very friendly, and I felt well-informed on the subject material. Guest speakers came in regularly and we were encouraged to ask questions. For the first ten training days, we were given nightly readings that helped us I wanted a job where I knew I could advance and they were very clear about how I could do that.
I was introduced to a lot of good music on the van rides. The only reason I quit was the typical work day was 1: I found it hard to have a good work life balance. I gave it four stars for work-life balance, because not everybody is such a morning person as I am and can probably make those hours work for them. The bottom line is I still really believe in Clean Water Action, learned a lot, and would definitely tell anyone about it, even if it was not the right fit for me.
The definition of difficult grassroots organizing. Clean Water Action was a rewarding place to work when it was good, but it was really difficult when it was bad. It required a lot of emotional labor but the people who work there are good and you know you are working for a good cause. I started here after I got my accounting certificate and it was a great place to start my career. I learned so much from each supervisor within the organization.
This is a great job for really enthusiastic and energetic people who love people but can be really hard and stressful for people who aren't super comfortable talking to strangers and asking for money.
First and maybe only job where I effectively used my prior education. Traveling from city to city canvassing was a great way to raise public awareness. Great organization, great people. I appreciate the hard work and incredible passion that all of my colleagues and employees had while I worked at Clean Water Action.
If it weren't for my move across the nation for personal reasons, I'd still be working here. Fun work environment, but disorganized at times. I worked as a canvasser for Clean Water Action, and enjoyed doing the letter drives and learning about local environmental issues.
The fundraising requirements can be intimidating at times, but that's in part the nature of canvassing. Could have used more training and more frequent group updates about Clean Water Action initiatives to strengthen canvasser knowledge.
Job requirements upon hiring could be made more clear to new employees. A great place to work and gain exposure to the various environmental policy and advocacy programs occurring throughout the area. It was a great pleasure to work with the Boston Team, as they are some of the most dedicated, inspirational and passionate individuals I've met! Fast paced work for environmental enthusiasts. This is a wonderful job if you are passionate about the environment or getting involved politically.
There are tons of opportunities to grow with the organization. You will be working outside and experiencing a lot of negativity from people who don't care but it was an overall pretty wonderful job. Fun work, Aweful Management. The company gives the illusion of being well run but the organizational structure for management is a mess often resulting in the delay of information being handed out.
In addition they try to be as vague as possible and intentionally mislead their employees in order to get their way. The company is very much socially progressive from the top down and management often promoted BLM and other similarly progressive organizations during the pre-shift meeting.
The work is fun and engaging if you enjoy talking to people and working outside. Walking around different neighborhoods each day is a great way to get exercise to see all the parts of Rhode Island and South Eastern Massachusetts. This job involves canvassing, going door to door soliciting donations, a fact which they will not tell you till your first day.
